Olive is number 1

With the loss of 2 parents in 2 years, Auntie Olive is a real tonic. She is driving, informed, entertaining, sociable and great company. She will be 85 in 9 days time and this week sees a round of celebrations commencing with a lunch she is hosting for 12 on Tuesday. " The men are included".
The prospect of the lunch has inspired her to plant pots of plants through May and improve the fencing and garden. Often weeding herself. The menu planning has been a great project. The salmon from Tesco was confirmed this morning, but is being stored in their fridge. Her friend has offered to accompany her on the big shop tomorrow. Today she made the sponge ready for the cream and strawberries.
When Olive suggested this event it seemed unnecessary for her to do so much work. However, over the past month it has provided her with a wonderful project and incentive to live on. With 11 funerals in the past 2 years it has not been easy. Today she told me of the loss of another friend. However, she has survived the routine cancer checks in May and the kidney scan. No change to the tumours is reported.
On Sunday morning she will be taken to Cheltenham to catch the coach to London. A 2 1/2 hour journey ready for a family lunch at 1.30 p.m. Can't be bad.....
